It’s a B Movie.

Published on: 16th November, 2009

Love them or hate them, you can’t ignore the Big B. This years film release from the creative eye of the Burton machine is also not one to be sniffed at.

FoTP took the time to have a few views of this shred flick and here’s our opinion on it.

First up it’s Burton, and yeah, it smacks of Burton. The movie is one big “We’re Burton, We’re the best” advert but what else would you expect? For such a comprehensive producer of snowboarding goods, they are hardly going to advertise other brands are they?

For those haters out there, some advice. Ignore all the branding and enjoy the film as a feast of creative production, cinematography and some truely insane snowboarding…perhaps that’s why Burton have been at the top of the pile for such a long time and this shows with the riders they support who are, without doubt, some of if not the best in the world.

The film isn’t too long, around a half hour, and is an enjoyable watch, you can sit back with the popcorn and wow at some insane rails, sick halfpipe and huge back country lines. There’s a huge collage of riding from all corners of the Burton stable, loads of variety and plenty of sick footage.

All the big names are in there, Shaun White, jibbing Jeremy Jones, Nicholas Muller and friends, plus “newer” Burton Riders such as Keegan Valaika mixed in for good measure.

The riding that is in the film is, as we mentioned, awesome. From Jeremy Jones pushing the boundaries of one footed snowboarding, to Mr Valaika dropping the same wall switch that Mr Jones bailed out of in “For Right or Wrong” – some of the riding is epic.

Check out the wooden stair rail, 5 kinks and about 50 steps, or the double corks in the pipe by you know who, and the crazy Swiss Roof line…it’s short and sweet, but these little glimpses into this 30 minutes of shred should give you an idea why this flick is worth a space on your shelf.

The whammy is at the end of the film, where the team and friends session a 100ft high B. Some will say it‘s a bit cheesy, others will love it, but it does prove one thing – you can’t beat a good session with your mates.

FoTP’s opinion? The B Movie may be one giant advert for the big B, but if you watch the movie for the riding, you can’t ignore the creativity and skills that are there. There’s some inspiring stuff and it’s well worth a watch, or two.

Really liked this video. Yes, its a big advert for Burton, but then arn’t most videos now a days just adverts for one brand anyway ? The Big B at the end was cheesy, but if you had the chance to do something like would you not jump at the chance? Burton are a big company and trying to make themselves out that they arn’t would be pointless and transparent.

One of the top videos of the year that Ive seen so far I reckon.
