Wakeham Qualifies in 4th at Evolution

Published on: 6th January, 2010

The 6 Star O’Neill Evolution is currently going off over in Davos, Switzerland, with the Ladies and Men’s superpipe contest the center of attention.

The Evolution is a monster of a comp, with a $100,000 prize purse, you can expect the creme of international snowboarding to be arriving in full force to this stage. It’s an event that has carved itself a serious reputation over the years as one of THE events of the season, where the standards of facility and riding are second to none.

So when you hear the news that Dan Wakeham has taken 4th place in the superpipe qualifying, it’s time to get stoked!

Dan’s not the only GB rider in Davos hitting up the pipe. In amongst the field of high-class internationals, Cody Herions, Jamie Nicholls and Lewis Coutier-Jones have also been getting involved busting tricks and grabbing some impressive placings in the superpipe.

Cody, who was up against the likes of Petja Piiroinen from Norway, and Eric Willet of the USA, finished 19th in his heat, while Jamie Nicholls and Lewis Courtier-Jones, who were both riding in the same heat as Dan, finished up 16th and 20th respectively.

Not only were these guys up against the experience and style of Mr Wakeham, but also the talents of Freddy Austbo, and Roger Kleivdal who placed 3rd and 2nd. Dan’s best run must have been pretty sick, as he was only 9 points off the top spot and .5 away from Austbo in 3rd!

Epic stuff from Mr Wakeham – lets hope he’s saved a few hammers for the final and can keep the style flowing.
