Charlies Blog - Rossendale Open

Just a quick post.

Was at the rossendale open on sunday. It was pretty fun despite the fact i had a good and really bad day. The qualifying was cool we just got to ride for an hour and a half, then at the end they decided who qualified by handing them bibs.

Loads of the Ski Stoke crew represented and made it into the finals. WOOP

In the little break that we had before the finals i was having a play on the 1/4 pipe i managed to rip my heel piece out and land completely on my head on half a rotated backflip sooo not the best of luck in the space of 15 minutes.

Finals started i borrowed some skis off pooch and i was back riding after a couple of paracetamol. Basically the idea was everyone got to hit 3 things first the kicker, second the box or rail and third you could choose either. Best 2 runs count. I managed to qualify for the super finals along with RyRy one of the stoke boys, Charlie richards from sheffield and Harry Tomlinson who rode sick, nailing D-spin 7's well done buddy. I managed to grab a 3rd in the over 16s category which im pretty stoked with.

Big shout out to Liam Beardsmore who rocked up really late managed to qualify for finals and come 3rd in the U16's overall. Also to Ryan Harris aka RyRy who worked really hard all day trying new tricks and coming 2nd in the U16's those frontflips will get nailed next time. WATCH OUT FOR THE STOKE MASSIVE haha

Cya's Charlie wink

Gazza's Blog - Go Skateboarding Day.

In case you didn't realise, Saturday 21st June was go skateboarding day 2008.
Yeah it rained alot in the morning, but we went to london anyway because we're hardcore.
smile
As it was wet we went straight to Southbank and skated there until it stopped raining and began to dry up. By half 1 it was pretty much dry.

So we whipped out the tube map and some day traveller tickets and went to skate street. There was nearly 20 of us by the time we left Southbank (17 actually).

So I don't think we were very popular when we all crammed into the top floor of a London bus, but the atmosphere was immense. We went to St Pauls stairs, London Bridge 10 set, London Bridge Jenson spot, Elephant and Castle and Chalky blocks, and to top it all off we saw Olly Todd, Vaughan Baker and Danny Calow at London Bridge.

All in all it was a sweeeet go skate day.
peace.

Charlies Blog - SkullCandy Rail Battle 2008

Hey All

Just got back from a road trip to Holland for the Skullcandy Rail Battle with Andy Collin and Rasta Rob Embling. Was insane the rails were brand new, a down rail, a gnarly double kink and a flat down box which was more of a down down box.

We got there on the Friday so we decided to ride that night in the snowdome. Was awesome the indoor jump there was massive a proper table about 10 meters, 12 to the sweet spot. The rail garden was super sweet there too.

The Comp practice was 11.30-12.30 on the saturday which we missed then our heats started at 4. There were 3 of us english lot plus the Harkess brothers Nick and Joe who are living out there but are also english. All 5 of us qualified out of the 10 for the finals at 7. It was way too hot to keep hiking it took it out of us all we were all knackered for the final but got on with it. The Finals went well the snow was solid and then came the ice burns but was all good. Wasn't expecting to get on the podium at all but managed to pick up a 3rd and a nice new pair of skullcandys WOOP WOOP.

Gazza's Blog...

For some random reason I am oddly looking forward to shredding on Thursday and Friday. I have no i dea why i haven't even seen the park plan yet. Like, I am always looking forward to riding (infact my whole week and school work revolves around riding) but this week I really cant wait.

Oh well. 3 days to go.

peace out...

Charlies Blog - Sheffield Freeze

Just came home from the Sheffield Freeze. Which was rather eventful lots of ambulances mainly from people knocking themselves out on the lip of the airbag kicker whippy little thing though pretty damn big. Lots of double flips going down on the airbag of doom. AWESOME

The Comp looked good though i didn't compete, thought i'd give the locals a chance haha. Nahhh the Locals are absolute rippers. I had a small go on the rundown snowflex i was like bambi on ice. It was well hard theres an art to riding the sheff ski village. No limits on the tricks thrown down as usual Switch D-7's to 900's impressive.

Charlie Richards came away with the win in the end. Well deserved with an unbeatable slopestyle run on the saturday to a Switch D7 in the big air. Enjoy that bottle of Jagermeister.

Shout out to Josh Ingram for some Steezy mute 3s and 5s, and to Little Harry Cheshire who won the under 11's overall you Rip buddy.

PEACE. Charlie Smith

Before i snapped by board though i stomped two back 3 ons to the mk gaspipe.
I am still quite amazed smile

Peace out people.

Charlies Blog - Night Ski

Hey

Saturday Night i rocked up to the fat face comp. £2000 worth of cash prizes I'm a little short of cash at the moment so I thought I'd have to go all out on this one.

Comp practice started at 3-7 but I didn't go till about 5 because riding for 4 hours solid is tiring enough let alone 8 hours. So got all warmed up threw a couple of inverts early on to get the adrenaline pumping, then I decked on a switch backflip, snapping my brake off and smashing my knee into the ice. 'Oh yes' but the painkillers went down a treat and luckily i carry a spare brake.

In qualifying i skied as hard as i could in the 3 hour jam session but could only do 2 hours was absolutely exhausted. They read out five people’s names out of the 20 skiers and snowboarders who had qualified already and my name was the first to be read out so relieved. So i scooted to the bar for a quick breather.

Finals were insane. All the lights were turned off with really deep red spotlights on each of the 4 features. I can't see very well as it is, let alone in the dark was ridiculous but added to the atmosphere all the same. The setup was a raised single bar into a raised flat box into a jump straight into the C-box. I stood at the top with Pat Sharples on the mic and 20 of the UK’s best snowboarders and skiers. My name was first on the list like i wasn't nervous enough in the first place. I got counted in 3...2...1...Stacked it on the first rail fantastic well there goes run 1 threw a Lincoln loop off the jump for a crowd pleaser.

I then waited and watched everyone else’s runs, a lot of people stacked others absolutely killed it. Pressure was on in run 2 I landed everything up till the Jump I threw a 540 and transferred from the big jump to the small jumps landing and had a right wobble I thought I was going down in the dark, I just managed to regain my balance to 450 out of the c box. All the Skier dudes and dudettes from Stoke ski centre were there to share the love. Got a few beers and some jagermiester shots and then they called my name that I'd won couldn't quite believe it and I couldn't open the bottle of champagne due to my broken thumbs. HAHA. Stoked for woodsy in 2nd and my home boy Josh Fawcett in 3rd. 'HIGH FIVE'

BIG SHOUT OUT TO 9MM PRODUCTIONS AND ALL THE RIPPERS FROM STOKE. PEACE AND LOVE CHARLIE
wink

Gazza'z Blog - ATV spring session...

...was actually way cool.
the set out was gnarly.
and all the rails were SWEET.
the down rail was the most perfect thing on the planet,
EVER.
go next year.
=].
whoop whoop.

smile

Gazza's Blog - LOL!

i was doing switch front sides Friday night and fell over and managed to successfully snap my relatively new palmer flash.
Although it kind of sucks, I am oddly pleased with myself as it is my first board snapping experience.
But me being me and liking snowboarding way to much I swapped the bindings over and rode the board switch for the rest of the evening and probably for the next few days as well.

my 5.0's rocked that evening (lol Henry)
=].
mega lolz.
peace.
